FAQ

  • Does permanent makeup hurt?

A topical pre-numbing is applied before all permanent makeup procedures to ease any discomfort. Numbing gel is also used during the procedure. Some people experience feeling light scratches with minimal pain as most are pretty comfortable.

  • Can you fix this?

Corrective work must have a consultation prior to booking to determine if a client needs removal or cover up. In some cases, we can color shift to make the color better. In other cases, removal is the only option. Send us a photo and we can take a look. Virtual consultations are available.

  • Can you make it look natural?

Pigment color is chosen based on skin type, undertones, and understanding the lifestyle of the client. What you want to wake up to everyday. Shape and color choice are discussed at the beginning of the procedure. A consultation is done before any permanent makeup procedure. Color swatches are done on your skin to see how the pigment color looks. Facial measurements are taken, and proper techniques are used to achieve a very natural result with permanent makeup.

  • Is microblading right for me? I'm scared to go permanent....

I'm here to ease your fears. Let's pick a nice pigment color to complement your skin tone and undertones. With the stroke technique, we can build on the brow and add pigment in layers. At the second session, we can always make the color more vibrant or add more strokes. In two sessions, you will have natural looking brows that last 1-3 years.

  • How many sessions do I need?

With most permanent makeup procedures, it's usually 2 sessions. The first session, then the touch up session, done 6-8 weeks later. The touch up should be scheduled at your initial appointment. The touch up allows us to see the color healed and make sure the techniques used were right for your skin type. In some instances, a 3rd session is needed. This will be determined after the touch up has healed, 6-8 weeks later.

  • I'm getting married in 3 months, can I have permanent makeup?

When planning for a big event, it's important to allow enough time for healing. Remember the first session and then the touch up 6-8 weeks later. Once the first session is done, the area will be a little red, swollen, and bold looking. The color will be intense. The area will appear larger. Every client is different. Arnica tablets are an excellent choice to speed up the healing. Best to allow enough time in between sessions for the color and skin to heal properly.

  • What's my aftercare?

A topical balm is given as aftercare for after your tattoo. Vitamin E oil is also good, as well as Aquaphor. Do not use Vaseline. Please keep the area clean and free of makeup, skincare, fragrance, and products. Do not use any skincare with retinols. Only the balm is to be applied. Please do not overuse the ointment and build up thick layers. Only a thin layer is necessary. Apply a thin layer in the morning. Then a thin layer in the evening. Please gently wash the area with a facial cleanser. Do not pick, scratch, or rub the area. This will remove pigment prematurely. Avoid excessive sweating and saunas. When showering, avoid placing the shower head directly at your face. If having removal, special aftercare products will be given to you.

  • How long does it last?

Results vary depending on a client’s lifestyle. Proper aftercare can help the results last longer. Results can last 1-3 years. Sometimes longer. Touch ups can be done annually. The existing color must be almost 50 percent faded to do a color booster. Sun exposure and excessive sweating can fade permanent makeup quicker. Retinols, glycolic acid, and aggressive skin care products should be avoided when having permanent makeup.

  • I'm having Botox or fillers done. How long do I have to wait to get permanent makeup?

Botox and fillers need time to settle in so usually 2 weeks is recommended before any permanent makeup. It's not advised to have Botox followed by permanent eyebrows the next day. Stretching the skin, wiping, and normal tattoo movements will cause the Botox to move and affect the results. Some wish to have the permanent makeup done first, then Botox afterwards. If considering lip fillers, it's best to have the lip blushing procedure done first. Some clients will realize less amount of lip filler, if any at all is needed, once the lip blushing has been performed.

  • I'm considering lip fillers, but I also like the idea of lip blushing. What's the difference?

Lip fillers can be used to add volume to lips, but it also stretches the skin and makes it look more sheer. This can make pigment harder to implant into the lips. Many opt for lip blushing because the results last longer than lip filler. Add color, volume, and shape to your lips with lip blushing. This option is less expensive than fillers and does not need to be done as often.

  • Okay, I'm ready to do the lip blushing! What do I need to do beforehand?

Clients can get their lips ready for lip blushing by staying hydrated and keeping lips moist with lip balm. You can gently exfoliate them with your toothbrush with light circular movements.Clients prone to cold sores or fever blisters must pre-medicate with antiviral. Please call your doctor or dentist and ask for anti-viral preventative in the form of Valtrex or generic. Take 1000mg the day before the procedure, the day of, and the day after. Tattooing lips can bring trauma to the tissue and stir up an outbreak if not properly medicated. This can affect the results, look ugly, and is painful if not treated.

  • Who is NOT a good candidate for permanent makeup

Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, those undergoing chemotherapy or cancer treatments, those undergoing major surgery, clients taking medications that could delay healing time, those with already existing permanent makeup that cannot be covered or botch jobs. Those with migrated lip fillers must have the fillers dissolved before the lip blushing procedure can be done. When in doubt, ask your doctor if you can have a tattoo.

  • I'm not ready to do anything permanent. Can you still service me?

Of course! There are many non-invasive eyebrow treatments available. I love seeing my monthly brow maintenance clients! My favorite is eyebrow tint and shape with wax. Eyebrow lamination is also a great alternative to permanent makeup. Lamination can last up to 6 weeks. Press and smooth out your brows to create a fuller look. Works great for thin and sparse brows too!
